I’m starting to wonder what would happen if she gets upset…
She calls upon her invisible “friends” and woe be unto you.
Come on, jerk. She’s doing it for free, and she’s not being compelled to help you. Get off your entitlement high horse.
This fellow needs to step back and think for a minute. Vireh took nothing in return for this. If it were to turn out that she didn’t cure them (speaking hypothetically, of course), they are no worse off than they were this morning. He doesn’t really have much to complain about.
But she’s not doing it for free. The soldiers are going to pay them and it is reasonable for people to assume that those that came with the Duke’s men have been hired. The fact that she would have done it for free is not known (and probably wouldn’t be believed).
Oh. It wasn’t someone desperate. It was someone who just wasn’t pleased with the service. The more you give, the more people will expect. And apparently some start to expect a lot quite quickly.
I don’t know; I think this dude has a reasonable cause for suspicion. He doesn’t really have any way to check if he’s better, and the social stigma certainly hasn’t gone away.
…plus, even if she didn’t take any of their money, tricking a bunch of people whose lives were ruined by their illness, in a way that both offered and then quickly took away hope, would be a pretty jerky thing to do.
If I was in their shoes I think offering him a way of contacting them together with strong assurances that he would not spread their secret would be one way of dealing with his objections.
Alternatively, they could make the promise to return in say a week to follow up. If the duke’s men are willing to act as guarantors for that promise then the person may let them go. However, they will have to return in a week’s time.
Damn, I’m good. I review them congratulating them for coming out of hiatus… after they return to hiatus. ^^;; Oh well. I hope you both are able to start comicking again soon. :)
Well, it’s been three, going on four years since this last page posted, so “soon” is already defenestrated. But I have seen other comics pick up again after a long hiatus, so one may hope…

Well. I don’t know how I got here, maybe a vote incentive on Top Web Comics? Anyway, I see we’re nearly six years into hiatus. I have a lot of stuff that I started and worked on pretty hard and then circumstances kept me from being able to finish. Obviously, as a reader, I would love to see more to the story. But what you have gotten done is pretty awesome, and I just want to say that, in case you still get comments from here. It’s cool. Lots of mysteries. And at least we got to see the lepers get healed, so yay for that!
I’m going to put the RSS into my feed, and maybe y’all will get back to this at some time. But if not, congratulations on what you got done on this, it’s really great! And thank you for sharing, and for leaving it where people can still read it. If you’d taken it down out of frustration or whatever, I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy it. So, again, thanks.
